The president of the African Union Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, has announced that the Africa-wide organization will donate US$ 100,000 to aid those left homeless by the volcanic eruption on the island of Fogo. In a press release, Nkosazana-Zuma expressed her solidarity with those left homeless after the lava from the volcanic eruption on Fogo, which is still ongoing, destroyed two villages, and affirmed she would continue, as the chief executive of the African Union, to seek resources for humanitarian aid for those Fogo residents currently going through a “challenging phase.”
